Packaging Design in New York
Labels, cartons, and print files that read on the shelf and hold up in the hand, built from the brand's existing identity system or a new one.
Packaging is where an identity has to do the most work in the least space — it has to read from across a shelf and hold up once it's in someone's hand. I design the graphics, labels, and print files, working from the brand's colour, type, and logo system (new or existing) rather than treating packaging as a one-off.
What I offer
- Label and carton design for retail or e-commerce products
- Print-ready files prepared for your printer's dieline and stock
- A small packaging family — label, box, and supporting pieces like tissue or a card — built from one system
- Guidance on legible hierarchy: what has to read first on a shelf
- Revisions against a physical proof, not just a screen
How to work together
Send an enquiry with the product, the quantities you're printing, and a dieline or packaging format if you already have one. I reply with fit and timeline, then we work from a physical sample wherever possible before final files are sent to print.
Price
Packaging is quoted per project based on how many pieces are in the system and how much print production support is included. Projects that reuse an existing identity system usually cost less than a packaging project built from nothing.
Questions
Do you design the physical structure of the box?
No — I design the graphics and print files. For a new box or bottle shape, I work alongside a structural packaging designer and can recommend one.
Can you print and ship the packaging?
No, but I prepare files to your printer's specification and review a physical proof before approval.
Do you work with small-batch producers?
Yes — a good share of the packaging work is for small producers printing a few hundred to a few thousand units at a time.
